Banke's 41 COVID-19 patients including a 2-year-old discharged after recovery

By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Sept. 20: The COVID-19 recovery rate in Banke is increasing on a daily basis.

On Sunday itself, as many as 41 persons including a two-year-old girl and a 70-year-old male were discharged after getting over the virus infection, informed the District Health Office, Banke.

According to Naresh Shrestha, the focal person of the Banke Health Office, 41 people including eight females and 33 males, who were receiving treatment in various isolation centers and hospitals after testing positive for COVID-19 on September 6, were discharged after recovering from the infection.  

As no symptoms or health problems were seen in them during their 14-day stay in isolation, they were discharged in line with the standards set by the Ministry of Health and Population, said Shrestha.

With this, Banke's COVID-19 tally has reached 1,590 of which, 1,244 have already recovered, 10 succumbed to the infection and the remaining 336 are receiving treatment in different isolation centers.

Two COVID-19 patients receiving treatment at Bheri Hospital are in serious health condition, informed the hospital.

Meanwhile, three COVID-19 patients who were in serious condition, undergoing treatment at COVID-19 level-3 hospitals, Nepalgunj Medical College and Kohalpur Teaching Hospital, have already defeated the virus, informed Nitesh Kumar Kanodia, assistant director of Nepalgunj Medical College.

"During the unavailability of Remdesivir, we continued their treatment under continuous surveillance of the doctors and health workers at the ICU. We also ordered Remdesivr from other districts for their treatment," said Kanodia.

Health workers on the leadership of Consultant Physician Dr. Anil Shrestha, Dr. Shyam BK, and Dr. Prabesh Panta were deployed for their treatment.
