Galkot, July 8 : A zoological park is to be constructed in the Baglung municipality in Baglung and the infrastructure is said to be the model one across the country.
The purpose of building the park is to conserve wildlife available in local community forests and to promote local tourism. It may be noted that the detailed project report to this connection has been already prepared and the Gandaki state government has, through the budget for upcoming fiscal year, allocated Rs 5 million to the municipality to begin the project, said State Assembly legislator Indra Lal Sapkota. The total cost of the project is over Rs 240 million.
Mayor Janakraj Poudel said the municipality has already secured the budget to kick start the project and the government has been requested for the allocation of further budget.
The park will cover five community forests at Baglung wards no 5,6 and 7. Architect Design and Civil Construction has won the contract for the construction of the project. The infrastructure will be encircled by a three kilometres road, will have a trekking route stretching to around two kilometres, a view tower, restro centre, a jungle management centre, a wildlife rescue facility and so on. Study suggests that community forests here are habitats of several species of wildlife.
