Kapilvastu, April 16: Nepalese Army has been roped into to intensify patrolling in Kapilvastu after people started defying the lockdown order.
"Security check would now be done by the army if need be in coordination with the police," said Chief District Officer Mahadev Pantha, also coordinator of the district security committee.
Vehicles except fire engines, ambulances and vehicles carrying goods have been barred from plying. "Mobility of people except for emergency works has been limited," said Army sergeant Purna Bahadur Bhattarai.
However, shops and groceries at Gallamandi, Hanuman temple, Shantinagar, Khajuriya, Bhairahawa village, Dandagaun, BP Marga, Udayapur and Goligadh were operating in violation of lockdown. In view of people violating lockdown, Army personnel has been mobilised, said the police, adding that Armed Police Force has been mobilised at the border points with neighbouring countries.
