Afghan Refugee Crisis Headache For Europe

Irina Gusakova

Afghan refugees have become a real headache for Europe. Now in the EU there are more than 200 thousand Afghans, whose status has not yet been determined.
According to the German tabloid Bild, requests from migrants for asylum were not accepted, but not desperate fugitives still did not return to their homeland, where the Taliban now rule. The migration services have so far been in no hurry with hospitality, while the new Afghan authorities are demanding deportation of the fugitives home.

Of course, the West would prefer to send refugees to the countries of Central Asia, but Moscow is categorically against this option. "We are not going to interfere in the internal affairs of Afghanistan, much less involve our armed forces in a conflict of all against all," Vladimir Putin commented on the situation earlier, noting that illegal migration in the states neighbouring Russia is an obvious threat to Russia.
In the meantime, the Europeans are deceiving themselves by artificially diminishing the consequences of the migration crisis. Although some countries still took a pose. For example, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said that while he is in power, there will be no refugees in his country, although he is not at all opposed to refugees being sent to countries in the neighbourhood of Afghanistan.

Slovenia also opposed the reception of refugees. As the Prime Minister of the country Janez Jansa wrote on Twitter, Slovenia is not obliged to help those who are cowardly fleeing instead of fighting for their homeland.
Boris Dolgov, a leading researcher at the Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies, noted in an interview with Pravda.Ru that previously there were illegal migrants in Europe, including from Afghanistan, and this issue was not particularly addressed. European institutions do not have significant resources to solve this problem, so it will be protracted.

"The presence of a large number of migrants is a problem for Europe, and it will only get worse, because if people are not adapted, are not integrated into society, have neither housing nor the opportunity to work, especially if there is such a factor as COVID, which aggravates the social crisis, this mass of migrants can create big problems for Europe in terms of security,” the expert noted.
Most of the refugees are in Germany, which risks re-experiencing the migration apocalypse if unsettled refugees join the ranks of criminals. Some of the refugees from Afghanistan are people with education and a profession, so they may well integrate into European society. But what about the rest?

If the refugees pose a danger, then the European institutions will agree to partial deportation, especially if the Taliban provide some documents confirming the need for their deportation. But all the migrants will still not be able to be deported. Therefore, the migration crisis will only get worse.
