Sindhupalchwok, Dec. 3: Almost 84 per cent of the individual houses were reconstructed in Sindhupalchwok district, one of the most affected districts by the 2015 earthquake.
According to the District Project Implementation Unit Donation Management and Local Reconstruction under the National Reconstruction Authority, out of 88,877 beneficiaries, 77,618 individual houses were reconstructed.
The reconstruction process in the district started in April 2016. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had inaugurated the reconstruction work.
Santosh Kumar Niraula, chief of NRA's District Project Implementation Unit (Building), said that the reconstruction of the individual houses was satisfactory. At least 82,366 individual houses have already received a second installment, he said. Only 6,511 homes are on the waiting list for reconstruction.
The earthquake destroyed 95 per cent of the individual houses in the district and killed 3,570 persons in the district.
