Khotang, March 25 : A 36-bed quarantine facility has been set up at Diktel Bazaar, the main business hub of Khotang District. The facility is built with cooperation from the Nepal Army's Gorakhnath Battalion at Mude.
The quarantine facility has been set up at the Khotang Multipurpose Covered Hall at Matikore in Diktel. It was constructed on Tuesday in view of the possible risk of the coronavirus pandemic that has spread globally.
"Before this, the quarantine facility was said to be constructed at Mount Everest Boarading School. But the idea was dropped after the school management committee opposed it. So, we built it at the Covered Hall, " said Deep Narayan Rijal, mayor of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi municipality.
The facility is set up at the initiation of the District Coordination Committee Khaotang and collaboration of the municipality, the Nepali Army and
Nepal Red Cross Society. It is said the quarantine facility was readied in two hours.
With this, the District Administration Office has urged all the ambulance services in the district to keep ambulances at stand-by, Chief District Officer Shaligram Sharma Poudel said.
The District Hospital Khotang has already set up an isolation ward with three beds before this.
