Kathmandu, July 7: Nepal Police has arrested 28 gamblers along with Rs 1.4 million in cash and cheques of different banks amounting to Rs 180 thousand.
They were held from a residence of Wangchu Sherpa of Simaltar, Baudha in the Kathmandu Valley. A team mobilized from Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu arrested the gamblers while they were staking the money on Tuesday night.
Spokesperson of the Range and Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramesh Kumar Basnet said that the gamblers were held based on a tip-off. They were made public on Wednesday. Further investigation into the incident is underway, Basnet added.
