Saptari, June 3 : At least 15 people were injured when two parties engaged in a scuffle over the land issue at Hatigaun of Chhinnamasta Rural Municipality in Saptari today.
Police had fired eight shells of tear gas to take the situation under control after the scuffle turned to ugly, said District Police Office, Saptari's Deputy Superintendent of Police Tilak Bharati. "The help of Nepal Army was sought after the situation went out of our control," he added.
It is said locals and District Coordination Committee Saptari's Chief Prabhakar Yadav allegedly removed a land pillar of Ganeshi Mandal five days ago and the same incidence was reason behind today's incident.
Idris Mansuri, Mohammand Usman, Tahir Mansuri, Mohammad Mukhtar, Manir Mansuri, Mahabud Mansuri, Birendra Prasad Yadav, Sitaram Das and Sajan Sah are among those injured in the clash. Both parties had used wooden clubs, stones and homemade weapons to attack each other. The injured have been sent to the Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital for treatment.
