Kathmandu, Mar. 11: Bird flu has been detected again in Bhaktapur. The disease was confirmed at a poultry farm run by Jagat Laxmi Sujkhule at Suryabinayak Municipality-10.
Chicken in two poultry farms were culled after the bird flu was detected a week back in the district. The Central Animal Disease Investigation Laboratory, Tripureshwor confirmed the bird flu after test.
Subtype H5H1 of HPA1 was found after the test in laboratory, according to Chief District Officer in Bhaktapur, Rudra Devi Sharma.
The meeting of the district security committee held on Friday following the confirmation of the bird flu decided to destroy the chicken, eggs, waste, and feed as per Bird Flu Control Regulation, 2078.
Similarly, the area of the bird flu detected farm has been demarcated for monitoring and controlling the further spread of the disease. The monitoring of the demarcated area would be conducted with the coordination of local level and Livestock Service Expert’s Centre, Lalitpur.
