BFIs offer good career prospects for women

Banking has emerged as one of the most attractive fields of employment for women due to security, prestige and financial rewards. Commercial banks, development banks and finance companies have employed about 54,533 people of which 21,353 are female – 39.16 per cent of the total employment. Male employees in banks and financial institutions (BFIs) number 33,180 – about 60.84 per cent, according to the statistics of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).

Garbage collection resumes in Kathmandu, major thoroughfares yet to be cleared off wastes

Although garbage collection had resumed in Kathmandu for over some days, the major thoroughfares of the Valley are still littered with solid waste. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) had positively intervened for garbage collection that was halted for 18 days and garbage was being collected since last Wednesday. Despite the resumption, Kalanki, Kalimati and Khasi Bazar, among others, public thoroughfares had mounds of garbage piled up one over another.

NC ward convention kicks off

Nepali Congress president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended his best wishes on the occasion of the formal beginning of the party's 14th general convention. Night-vision laser guns to monitor vehicle speed

The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has started monitoring speed of vehicles in the Valley roads during the night with night-vision laser speed guns in a bid to reduce cases of accidents. Speeding is the second major cause of road accidents in the Valley behind driver’s negligence. The MTPD data shows 729 out of 8,935 road accidents in fiscal year 2020/21 were due to overspeeding; 7,425 of the accidents happened because of driver’s negligence.

Schools in Valley likely to resume classes in physical presence next week

"We will see to what extent the infection has come down in the metropolis and if we find the virus infection has decreased, we will allow resumption of school classes in the physical presence of the students and teachers," said Ram Prasad Subedi, chief of education division of the KMC.
