Guardians, students happy over SEE cancellation

The Secondary Education Examination (SEE), which was the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination until 2016, is an institution in itself. Started in 1934, the exam, dubbed the Iron Gate for Nepali students, has been held every year for the past 87 years without interruption.

SEE grade sheets will be available by mid-July: Minister Pokharel

Minister for the Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel Thursday said the National Examination Board (NEB) would distribute grade sheets of Secondary Education Examination on the basis of internal assessment within a month. A meeting of the Council of Ministers Wednesday decided to cancel SEE of the year 2076 BS considering the increasing threat of COVID-19. However, the decision of giving validity to SEE from internal assessment applies only for this year.

299 women rescued from Kuwait arrive

Rescued 299 Nepali women have arrived in Kathmandu from Kuwait on Thursday. Kuwait government had sent Nepali workers under amnesty programme to Nepal amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Two chartered flights of Jazeera Airways had brought them to Kathmandu – one flight carried 149 passengers and another 150 passengers. The first flight had landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport at 11:00 AM and the second at 1:00 PM.

House approves budget for FY 2020/21

The House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament has endorsed the Appropriation Bill for the coming fiscal year 2020/21 with majority votes on Wednesday. It was endorsed following Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s address in the House in response to queries raised by a number of lawmakers. Govt. decides to cancel SEE for this year

The meeting of council of ministers held today at Prime Minister's residency decided to call off SEE for this year, informed Giriraj Mani Pokharel, minister for Education, Science and Technology (MoEST).
