Returnee youths revive agricultural activities in Kaski villages

Agricultural activities in Sidhane village, which lies on the way to the tourist destination of Panchase Hill across the Phewa Lake, have increased of late. One could hardly see youths except the local elderlies being involved in agricultural activities previously. But for two-three months, with a larger number of youths being involved in farming, the image of Sidhane village has changed drastically.

Transporters unwilling to ply vehicles at 50% occupation

Three months after the lockdown, the government has begun preparation to operate public vehicles after holding meetings with the public vehicle entrepreneurs and labourers. Gogan Bahadur Hamal, director general at the Department of Transport Management, said the Department has been holding meetings with transport entrepreneurs and labourers in coordination with the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport to resume the service.

COVID-19 hotspots in Banke, Kapilvastu no more so

Kapilvastu was relatively calm till the end of April. COVID-19 still didn’t seem like an immediate threat and the people and authorities had things under control. But all that changed from May 4. Suddenly, hordes of people started arriving from India, stretching the district’s management capabilities.
