HoR meeting adjourned till Feb 25

The House of Representatives (HoR) meeting has been adjourned till 1 pm on Friday. According to the secretary-General of the Federal Parliament Dr Bharat Raj Gautam, the meeting scheduled for February 24 could not be held due to special reasons.

EC seeks Rs. 8.95 billion to hold local elections

The Election Commission has asked the Ministry of Finance for a budget of Rs 8.952 billion for holding the local level election scheduled for May 13. The Commission has written to the Ministry of Finance to release the budget. Trade deficit widens to Rs. 1,015 billion in seven months

The country’s trade deficit has reached Rs. 1,015.80 billion in the first seven months of the current fiscal year 2021/22. This year's trade deficit is higher by 38.45 per cent than the deficit of the corresponding period last fiscal year, according to the Department of Customs. Trade deficit during the same period last year was Rs. 733.72 billion.

The Election Commission (EC) has set a deadline to apply for a copy of the voter ID card if it is lost or damaged in any case. Issuing a statement on Monday, the EC said that a copy of the voter’s identity card can be obtained by submitting an application to the concerned district election office by March 4 on the recommendation of the ward office.

63.4% of the population fully vaccinated against COVID-19

The government has fully vaccinated 63.4 per cent of Nepal’s total population of nearly 30 million against COVID-19 as of today, a new milestone. The government has set a target to inoculate the entire population by mid-April.
