Kathmandu, Feb.2: Last year's super hit film “Aama” has been released on YouTube due to its piracy.
The film was released in local theatres on February 21 last year.
Directed by Dipendra K Khanal, the film stars Mithila Sharma, Suraksha Pant, Sarita Giri, Deshbhakt Khanal, Manish Niraula and Laxmi Bhushal among others.
In three days since its release, the movie has been viewed about 7 million times on YouTube. The movie has risen to the number one position of Nepal's YouTube trending.
More than 54,000 viewers have liked the movie. With about 5,000 responses, the viewers have hailed the film, produced by Sharmila Pandey, as excellent.
“This movie portrays the real image of Nepalese society. It's heart-wrenching to see how females are seen less important than males. The conditions of the government hospitals is not good enough that is why people from low background struggles to get proper treatment,” said one of the viewers, Furbi Yolmo.
Most of the viewers have praised the film saying that it is a story connected with human feelings and Nepali society. Although it was released in Nepal, it could not be released abroad due to COVID-19.
Therefore, most of the overseas viewers who watched the film commented that the story of Aama was their own story.
