Kathmandu, Nov. 9: Nepal on Sunday confirmed 2,817 new cases of COVID-19 and of them 1,166 are females and 1,651 are males.
Of the total national tally of 194,453 COVID-19 cases, 64,835 are females while 129,618 are males. This means 33 per cent of the infected are women and 67 per cent males.
The Kathmandu Valley has continued to witness the increasing cases of COVID-19 and on Sunday, it recorded 1,533 among 2,817 new cases confirmed from across the country.
"In 12,311 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 2,817 persons were found positive for the COVID-19 in the last 24 hours," informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in the press briefing.
With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 194,453 while the Kathmandu Valley’s count has reached 88,727.
Among the cases detected from the Kathmandu Valley, 1,294 are from Kathmandu district while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 162 and 77 cases respectively.
According to the MoHP, there are 35,419 active cases of COVID-19 of which 6,222 are receiving treatment in institutional isolation and 29,197 are in home isolation across the nation. Of the active patients, 398 are admitted to the ICU and 82 are receiving treatment with ventilator facility.
As per the latest update, 11,638 COVID-19 patients are in home isolation in Kathmandu, 1752 in Bhaktapur and 1803 in Lalitpur. Likewise, 2,812 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by the health ministry. As of today, 157,926 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection.
The recovery rate has now reached 81.1 per cent. Meanwhile, 21 persons succumbed to the novel coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal's COVID-19 death toll has now
