Lalitpur, Aug 28: A woman has been killed while a girl has gone missing at Shubhane river, the confluence of wards no 6 and 7 of Bagmati rural municipality in south Lalitpur.
The 40-year-old local woman drowned in the river flooded with incessant rains for the past three days. Chair of Ward No. 7 Nawaraj Sanjel said that an eight-year-old girl has gone missing after being swept away by the river at around 4.30 pm on Friday.
According to local resident Uddhav Ghimire, the deceased woman has been identified as Sanju Singtan while the identity of the missing girl has not been ascertained yet.
Police Inspector Rajendra Chhetri of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Chapagaun said that a police team rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. For the past few days, the Kanti highway, Baguwa and Ashrang roads have been blocked due to floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall for the past few days.
