Kathmandu, Dec. 16: Weather in the Kathmandu Valley and major parts outside of it will become normal from Monday afternoon, according to Meteorological Forecasting Division.
“There is no such external phenomenon that hampers to make the weather of the country cloudy from Monday,” senior meteorologist Min Kumar Aryal said.
Although the Kathmandu Valley and other parts of the country remained cloudy on Sunday, the weather from Monday will be sunny with little chance of getting partially cloudy in the hilly regions, he said.
The Kathmandu Valley witnessed a cloudy weather on Monday because of the development of moisture after the first winter rainfall on Friday, said Aryal.
He, however, said that the Terai region was more likely to witness a dense fog from Monday due to the development of moisture after the rains.
In the last 24 hours, Biratnagar, Dhankuta and Okhaldhunga witnessed 0.8, 0.6 and 0.2 mm rainfall respectively.
Minimum temperature in Jumla reached minus 1.9. Kathmandu recorded 8 degree Celsius of minimum temperature on Monday, according to a record of Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
According to the MFD record, Kathmandu had witnessed 37.40 mm rainfall in December.
Kathmandu had a record of registering extreme minimum temperature up to minus 2 degree Celsius on December 31, 1977 and maximum 25.2 degree Celsius on December 3, 1988.
