By Lucky Chaudhary, Kathmandu, July 8: The central committee members of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have said that the intra-party feud must be ended in the Standing Committee meeting itself.

After the meeting of Standing Committee got postponed repeatedly, the central members have demanded to conduct a Central Committee meeting to resolve the ongoing issues of the party.

The Standing Committee meeting is being postponed regularly as the Chairmen of NCP, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ have not been able to work out solution to the differences despite holding discussions daily.

The meeting of Standing Committee, which began from June 24, has been postponed a couple of times. While the members of Standing Committee are confident that the series of meeting between the Chairmen would end on a positive note, the central members have been demanding Central Committee meeting to wipe out the intra-party differences.

However, many NCP leaders have said that holding a meeting between 441 Central Committee members wouldn’t be a good idea in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic.

Naradmuni Rana, member of the House of Representatives and central member of NCP, said that the Chairmen would forge a consensus by Thursday.

“The meeting of Standing Committee scheduled for Friday, July 10, will not be postponed,” he hoped.

“The Central Committee meeting isn’t necessary while the nation is battling with COVID-19 pandemic,” said Rana.

Likewise, Bishnu Rijal, another member of the central committee said that he was hopeful that the Chairmen-duo would reach to an agreement soon. “Although postponement of Standing Committee meeting hasn’t indicated positive result, the Chairmen will reach to an agreement soon to sort out the differences within the party,” said Rijal.

Stating that the Central Committee meeting wasn’t necessary, Rijal said, “If the differences can be sorted out in the Standing Committee itself, why do we have to conduct Central Committee meeting?”
