VP Harris chooses Gurung’s design during inaugural

Kathmandu, Jan. 26: It is a matter of pride for all Nepalis that Nepali-American fashion designer Prabal Gurung has been creating his wondrous apparel for high profile Americans for years.
His designs are now popular among the Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities and the world’s top politicians during the special occasions.
Recently, his wardrobe design was worn by Kamala Harris, the first woman vice president of the United States of America, during the swearing-in ceremony of the new administration under President Joe Biden on January 20.
Kamala Harris outfitted an ensemble by designer Gurung in the presidential inaugural prayer held in the State Dining Room of the White House.
The dresses designed by Gurung are worn by many famous celebrities from all over the world. From former first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, Kate Middleton--the Duchess of Cambridge- United Kingdom, Operah Winfrey, Priyanka Chopra, Jennifer Lawrence, Deepika Padukone and many other renowned celebrities have already appeared in the designs developed by Gurung.
Gurung wrote on twitter, “Honored, humbled, and forever grateful.”
Meanwhile, American Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry also took to twitter congratulating Gurung.
The American envoy tweeted, “Congratulations to Nepali American designer @Prabal Gurung- so glad to have met you a little more than a year ago at @US Embassy Nepal ! Vice President Harris looks fabulous in your design.”
Gurung was born in Singapore to Nepali parents who later was brought up in Kathmandu. He has been living in New York for many years.
