Upper Trishuli 3 ‘A’ hydropower project, which had started producing electricity from March 2019, is set to be inaugurated on Monday.
The project under Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), had taken over a decade to finish the construction works alone.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from action room of the office of Prime Ministers and Council of Ministers and Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Barshaman Pun from Kispang Rural Municipality-5, Nuwakot would jointly inaugurate the project, informed NEA.
Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of NEA said that construction of the 60 MW project, which was a long overdue had finally completed and it would be formally inaugurated on Monday.
Construction of each towers of transmission line was as difficult as completion of the entire project, said Ghising.
The project is said to be the sole output of the direction given by Minister Pun and regular efforts of Director Ghising.
The project is anticipated to contribute eight per cent of the total energy consumed by the nation.
The total project cost of 109.224 million USD was furnished by the Government of Nepal, NEA and from the loan provided by a Chinese Bank.
Phanindra Raj Joshi, Project Chief said that preparations for the inauguration if the project were being done in full swing.
Cabinet of ministers, members of the House of Representatives and other concerned authorities have been invited for the event, said Joshi.
According to NEA, the project would generate electricity for nine months in full efficiency while during three months of the winter season, 45MW electricity would be produced.
The project has expected to earn around Rs. 5 billion annually.
The electricity generated from the project is connected to National Transmission Line Grid through a 200KV transmission line.
Also, the second unit of Upper Trishuli 3 ‘A’ project, which was delayed due to the earthquake and weak management of the construction team also concluded its test production on 31st July, 2019.
