Jhapa, March 5 : Chairperson of the CPN (UML), KP Sharma Oli, has suggested to naming Province 1 as Koshi.
Addressing the first convention of Press Chautari Nepal, Province 1, at Birtamode today, Chair Oli said that it would be appropriate to naming Province 1 as Koshi Province as Koshi river was originated before human civilization.
He shared, "Koshi carries old civilization and tradition. Its religion, culture, civilizations and tradition are connected with Koshi. It will be appropriate and common to naming the province from the identity of civilization rather than ethnic identity. Therefore, province 1 should be named as Koshi province without any confusion."
On a different note, the UML Chair mentioned that none of the parties of the ruling alliance have courage to fight with the CPN (UML) in the upcoming election.
He further said that it is unfortunate for the NC, which fought for democracy for a long time, to make alliance with leftists.
Earlier, Chair Oli had garlanded the statues of five martyrs at Salbadi of Arjundhara municipality—Ramnath Dahal, Netra Ghimire, Biren Rajbanshi, Krishna Kuinkel and Narayan Shrestha.
