Kathmandu, Feb. 4: Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) Wednesday introduced online fine payment system.
Anyone booked for violating traffic rules can now pay the fine online.
The Division, organising a press conference this morning, began the new service for the traffic rule violators.
The Traffic Violation Record System (TVRS), Revenue Management Information System (RIMS) of the government and other service providers, have been linked in real time and the system has been developed to pay fines through the account of the concerned bank, said Janak Bhattarai, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and chief of the Division.
SSP Bhattarai said that an arrangement has been made to pay the fines online from anywhere by ending the obligation of depositing the amount in the designated bank after visiting traffic police office directly.
This will reduce traffic congestion and save time of the rule violators, SSP Bhattarai said.
As this online technology is also a milestone for Traffic Police Division, the Division is always ready to provide easy and simple service to all the service recipients who come to the division for any other service, he said.
By incorporating this technology, the revenue amount collected from penalties will be credited to the government revenue account directly, he said.
Earlier, the division had implemented online system to lodge complaints in case of loss of vehicles and documents.
