Kathmandu, Apr. 30: The number of districts enforcing complete restrictions has reached 11 as of Thursday.
Prohibition orders have been imposed in one district after another to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.
Two districts have, however, been going under partial restriction order specifying the limited area or wards.
The government had handed over the authority to the chief district officers of the concerned districts that they can impose a ban if 500 people were active patients in urban areas and 200 in the hills. And if the cases didn’t decrease, they extend the order up to 15 days, according to a notice issued by Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday.
As per the information received from the Ministry, there is a complete ban in 11 districts and a partial ban in two districts till Thursday.
Districts including Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Banke, Dang, Kailali, Rupandehi, Parsa, Surkhet, Bardiya, and Baglung have come under complete restrictions.
There is a ban on vehicles only in Kaski.
Kalikot and Kaski have partial restriction order. The district administration office, Kalikot, has also imposed restriction in ward no. 3 of Khandachakra municipality of the district.
Restriction order with a ban to open and operate all non-essential services was implemented in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts of the Valley from 6 am on Thursday till midnight of May 5, according to Janak Raj Dahal, Joint Secretary and spokesperson at Home Ministry.
As the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic becomes more frightening across the country, the number of districts implementing complete or partial lockdown or restriction order continues to increase.
During the order, it is not allowed to go out of the house except for urgent work such as medical treatment and transportation of food. But various district administrations have implemented their own standards and criteria to facilitate public life, said Joint Secretary Dahal.
He said the government had given the right to decide and extend the restriction order to the Chief District Officer of every district analysing the real situation of the infection rate at any time.
