Mukunda Gaire, Kathmandu, Feb. 11: Number of fraud cases in the name of providing foreign employment in European countries has been increasing of late.
According to the Department of Foreign Employment, even though the number of fraud cases is more in the name of gulf countries, the fraud amount is more in the name of European countries.
The department has informed that a Dhumbarahi based consultancy called Kalikot Overseas had fled by taking Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 700,000 each from more than 100 people, assuring them to send them to European countries like Portugal and Czech Republic.
Likewise, Grishma Overseas, Bheri Overseas, Dalusko Human Resources, Moonlight International, Sadhana International, Capital Recruitment Services, Pathibhara HR Solution and dozens of other manpower companies had been cheating people by assuring them to provide employment opportunities in European countries.
Director Hari Prasad Gyawali of the Department of Foreign Employment said that investigation was going on to arrest the manpower companies which have fled by deceiving people.
Complaints of being cheated in the name of foreign employment opportunities in European countries have been increasing in the department lately.
Another director of the department, Bholanath Guragain said that majority of educated and literate people were being cheated by the manpower companies.
“People who have only completed 10th grade tend to cheat master's degree graduates,” Guragain said.
The department said that only highly educated people dream of flying to European countries for employment, and become a prey to fraud.
People, in numbers, are being swindled by manpower companies and individually by gulping huge number of amount from the former by promising to send them to Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Turkey, Malta, Japan, Korea and so forth.
