Mahottari, Oct 5: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokharel, said on Saturday that technology-based agriculture system would drive the country's development and prosperity.
He said this while initiating a sapling plantation programme organized by the Agriculture Development Board of the Bardibas Municipality at the local Model Agro-Village.
On the occasion, Minister Pokharel said the agriculture in the coming days should be aimed at achieving development and prosperity rather than sustenance-oriented. He called on the farmers to adopt modern agricultural technology to move ahead towards what he called the journey of development and prosperity.
He also urged the municipality to increase people's participation in every work, whether that be in selection of development projects or in their implementation.
The municipality has started works for construction of a 'model agriculture village' on the riparian land along the Ratu river at Kisannagar, ward 6 of the municipality.
Two thousand and two hundred plants of mango and litchi have been planted at the village.
