By Chitra Mijar, Sindhupalchowk, Oct. 5: The Tatopani border point, which had been closed for the last three months due to the rain-induced disasters, has been opened from today.

The border has been resumed for one-way import as per the agreement the officials of Sindhupalchwok and Nyalam of Tibet concluded on September 29.

According to Lal Bahadur Khatri, chief of Tatopani Dry Port Customs Office, the Chinese labourers had brought the clothes and raw materials to the Chinese yard near Miteri Bridge via six containers.

"It requires two Nepali containers to store the goods brought by one Chinese container. Thus, goods in 12 containers have entered Nepal today," he said. The goods have been kept in the upper customs office of Tatopani dry port.  

The Chinese and Nepali container drivers and labourers have to undergo COVID-19 test in every five days. Some 29 Nepali drivers and labourers have been deployed to load and unload the goods.

"The goods will be sent to Kathmandu within few days after completion of all the examination by in line with the medical protocols," said chief Khatri. "Six more containers will reach the Miteri Bridge from Khasa this evening."

The Tatopani border point was closed from July 9.
