By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 30: The first ever dialogue between the government and Tharuhat Tharuwan Joint Struggle Committee has concluded at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Premilal Chaudhary, general secretary of Tharu Kalyankari Sabha, informed The Rising Nepal that the meeting ended on a positive note. He added that the government and the struggle committee would hold talks again on Thursday.
“Discussions were held on the basis of the 19-point demand presented by the struggle committee,” said Chaudhary, adding, “We have been told that the talk team would study our demand for two days and the meeting will be held again on Thursday.”
The Tharuhat/ Tharuwan Joint Struggle Committee had formed a 5-member team on Tuesday morning under Chairmanship of Dhaniram Chaudhary of Tharu Kalyankari Sabha to hold discussions with the government.
Likewise, the government had formed a 3-member talk-team on Monday with Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ as the coordinator. The team comprises of Prime Minister’s foreign affairs advisor Dr. Rajan Bhattarai and former parliamentarian Rukmini Chaudhary.
The Tharu Kalyankari Sabha, the struggle committee and the Central Movement Mobilisation Committee have been staging sit-ins at Maitighar in the capital for the past few days demanding the release of law maker Resham Chaudhary.
