Meeting of the top leaders of the ruling coalition
Kathmandu, Dec. 2: A meeting of the top leaders of the five ruling parties has suggested Chief Justice Cholendra Shammer Rana to appoint acting Chief Justice by taking leave.
A meeting of the top leaders of the five parties held at the PM's residence in Baluwatar on Thursday morning suggested that the court should proceed immediately by appointing an acting judge as the court has been obstructed for a long time and the chief justice has fallen ill.
"As the chief justice is ill, the coalition has decided to appoint an acting chief justice immediately and move the work of the supreme court forward," said Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, minister for communications and information technology and government's spokesperson.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', CPN-Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samajwadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav, Rashtriya Janamorcha Nepal leader Durga Poudel among others.
