By Prakash Bikram Shah, Dhangadhi, Jun. 8: Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatta has received a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly.
CM Bhatta has secured 30 votes in his favour while only nine votes were against him. Of the 30 votes, 13 provincial assembly members from NCP (Maoist Centre) and 17 from CPN-UML members had voted for him.
Seven CPN-UML leaders from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli-led faction and two members from Rashtriya Janata Party (RJP) did not vote for CM Bhatta while 12 members from Nepali Congress (NC) remained neutral.
Similarly, the Speaker of the assembly did not participate in the election.
Currently, of the total 52 members in the Sudurpaschim provincial assembly, 25 members including the Speaker are from CPN-UML.
Bhatta was appointed as the CM with the support of 39 assembly members from CPN-UML and NCP (Maoist Centre).
