Kathmandu, Aug 16: Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has directed the government to inform the House about status of Nepalis in Afghanistan as soon as possible.
Seeking time in the very beginning of the House of Representatives (HoR) session today, CPN (UML) lawmaker Gokul Baskota asserted the House should be informed about the Afghanistan incident and the status of Nepali there.
In response, the Speaker directed the government to instantly inform the House about the matter. “The serious attention of the House has been drawn towards the issue raised by the Honourable lawmaker and thus I direct the government to apprise the House about the incident,” he said.
The former Minister sought the government’s view on the incident when Afghanistan is the SAARC member country and Nepal is the current Chair of the regional body. He drew the government’s attention towards rescuing the Nepali citizen from Afghanistan.
“It seems the government is not serious about the Nepali citizens in Afghanistan.” He took the time to recall the prompt rescue of the Nepali from Afghanistan during the attack on civilians in 2073 BS. He sought to be updated about the status of Nepali in Afghanistan, and prompt commitments from the government for the rescue. It may be noted the Talibans took over Afghanistan on Sunday.
