By Sahadev Basnet, Jajarkot, Oct. 8: Six persons including a ward chair died in a jeep accident at Junichande of Jajarkot yesterday.
One has gone missing in the accident while one has been seriously injured.
The jeep with registration number Bhe 1 Ja 935, en route to Junichande from Khalanga, had met with an accident at around 3:00 pm on Wednesday at Aulbhi of Junichande Rural Municipality-1.
According to DSP Kishor Shrestha, chief of the District Police Office, the deceased were identified as Amar Bahadur Shahi, 50, ward chair of Junichande Rural Municipality-11, Kriti Bahadur Shahi, 62, Lal Bahadur Budha and Khemraj Shahi, 32 of the same wad and Krishna Bahadur Shahi, 29, and Malika Basnet, 25, of ward number 5.
Nar Bahadur Budha, 55, who had been seriously injured in the accident is currently under treatment in Shurkhet.
The jeep had plunged 500 meters down the road into the Majkot stream.
Stating that a huge human casualty took place due to the poor condition of the road, the locals have demanded compensation.
Currently, all the dead bodies are at the place of the accident. Chetraj Baral, Chief District Officer of Jajarkot aid that post mortem of the bodies would be done in coordination with the bereaved families and local representatives.
It is said that the jeep driver Gorakh Basnet has fled from the place of accident.
