Kathmandu, June 8: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Parbat Gurung said Sunday that the government would set up seprate qurantine facility for the pregant and post-partum women rescued from the third countries.
Minister Gurung said the minsitry had already mobilised social organisations to arrnage qurantines and other facilities for the pregant and post-partum women.
Speaking at a virtual meeting with the experts, Minister Gurung said special priority had been given to the saftey of women, children, senior citizens, disabled and vulnerable people.
Stating that the government was planning to ease the existing lockdown, he said the government was seeking suggestions from experts to relax restrictions in a safe manner.
Women activists Chadani Joshi, Renu Adhikari, Laxmi Karki, Radha Poudel and Lily Thapa, among others, participated in the virtual meeting.
During the meeting, women activists asked Minister Gurung to set up seperate qurantine centres for women.
They also asked the government to protect thousands of women and children in quarantine centres from potential abusers.
