Kawasoti, Dec. 31: A woman was attacked and killed by a tiger today at Madhyabindu-12 in Nawalpur.
The deceased has been identified as Barisa Saru, 39, of Arunkhola, Madhyabindu-12. The big cat attacked Saru as she had been to the local forest to collect green vegetables, according to District Police Office. People accompanying Saru at the time reported the incident before the Office, said Police Inspector Sagar Panta.
The incident site lies some 500 metres south of the Arunkhola-Dumkibas road. Prior to this, in the last week of November, a local community forest ranger was killed in the tiger attack at Binayi Tribeni rural municipality-1. Both incident sites lie at some distance.
The Binayi Tribeni rural municipality a few days ago issued a notice, warning locals about the rising tiger menace and urging them to not visit the forest areas. The locals terrorized by the incident have demanded the shifting of the animal to the park area.
