Kathmandu, Nov 16: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel has pledged to prepare and implement a national action model on pre-primary to higher education so as to address the points in the sustainable development goals number 4.
Addressing the 40th General Convention of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) underway in Paris, France on behalf of Nepal, Minister Pokharel informed the convention of Nepal's constitution incorporating education as a fundamental right and the implementation of the Act relating to Compulsory and Free Education, 2075 BS.
He also expressed his commitments to Nepal ensuring rights to expression and press freedom by developing free and impartial journalism. Saying Nepal's goals of "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis" aims to help transform Nepal into a developing country by 2022, he said those heritages enlisted on World Heritage Sites damaged by the earthquake of 2015 would see reconstruction by 2020.
Nepal has a policy to protect youth scientists, prioritise science, technology and new subjects and use artificial intelligence for the welfare of the Nepali people.
The General Convention that started from November 12 will conclude on November 27.
