Kathmandu, Feb 18: An annual report of the Indigenous Nationalities Commission for the fiscal year 2077-78 BS (2020-21) was presented in the House of Representatives today amidst the obstruction from the main opposition CPN (UML).
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Dilendra Prasad Badu, tabled the document on the behalf of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
The main opposition chanted slogans demanding the prohibition of entry of ‘non-parliamentarians’ to the House and guarantee of Constitutional supremacy. It may be noted that the UML has been obstructing the House for a long citing that the Speaker did not issue a notice about the party’s action against its 14 lawmakers.
Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota tried to convince the main opposition to let the House run smoothly when the COVID-19 crisis and obstructions had already their implications in parliament’s regular business and functioning but in vain. The opposing lawmakers continued their demonstrations by picketing a rostrum.
The HoR will meet again at 1:00 am on February 20.
