By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 28: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government has been able to make remarkable economic progress despite adverse situation.
The Prime Minster said so in his address to the national today.
He said the country was recommended for being elevated to a developing country from the status of the least developed country and that the country was in overall on a positive economic path.
"Data on labour migration has decreased, hydropower generation has increased, export has also increased," said Prime Minister Oli, "Per capita income of Nepalis has increased by 25 per cent while a historic achievement has been made in strategic infrastructure sector."
He said the government accorded high priority in completing projects which have remained in limbo for long and that initiative was taken to increase access of international market to goods produced in Nepal.
The government has taken necessary step for training to produce skill human resource and technical human resource has been produced in hundreds, he said.
Prime Minister Oli said he wanted to make the House of Representatives workable for its full term but obstacles were created and that the opposition parties worked to make his proposal in this regard a failure.
"A situation was created wherein neither the government was given a vote of confidence nor they could produce an alternative," he said, "I took step as per constitution thinking it was not good to prolong political uncertainty."
He blamed the opposition political parties for behaving against multiparty political system and defended that President Bidya Devi Bhandari dissolved the HoR and fixed the date for election as per the constitutional provision as the political parties failed to make claims as provisioned in Article 76 (5) for forming a new government.
"To go for a fresh mandate of the people is not retrogression but a democratic process," said PM Oli, calling upon the opposition parties to participate in the government.
He reiterated commitment that the elections will be held in a free and fair manner.
