Record 30 COVID-19 fatalities in single day

Kathmandu, Nov. 5: Nepal is witnessing increasing number of fatalities due to COVID-19 on daily basis and on Wednesday, it recorded 30 deaths. It is the highest single day fatalities recorded so far.
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) reported 3,309 new cases of COVID-19 and 30 fatalities from across the country. With this, the nationwide official cases count has advanced to 182,923 with 1,034 deaths.
Of the total cases, 1,304 are females and 2005 are males, said Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
“In 13,144 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 3,309 were found to be infected by the virus," informed Dr. Gautam.
Similarly, 1,878 new cases were recorded from the Kathmandu Valley and of which 1,570 were detected in Kathmandu, 119 in Bhaktapur and 189 in Lalitpur.
According to the latest update of the MoHP, there are 36,911 active cases of COVID-19 of which 6,780 are receiving treatment in institutional isolation and 30,131 are in home isolation.
Likewise, 1,305 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are staying in quarantine facilities.
Of the active patients, 379 are admitted to the ICU and 78
are receiving treatment with ventilator support.
Meanwhile, some 3,844 COVID-19 patients either receiving treatment in various health facilities or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. With this, Nepal has recorded 144,878 cases of recoveries from the COVID-19
and the recovery rate stands at 78.2 per cent.
