Kathmandu, Aug. 7: Nepal Police Headquarters has requested the public to complain against any form of unethical behaviour by police personnel backing up that they will take immediate necessary action over the complaints.
Issuing a notice on Wednesday, Nepal Police Headquarters informed that citizens are free to complain if they faced or sighted any immoral behaviour from police personnel.
Many cases of police personnel not abiding by the law and their responsibility have come forward over the years where victims had no one to provide back up.
However, Nepal Police have been taking departmental actions against several officers for their immoral act. According to officers at the headquarters, the notice was to increase awareness and update the public.
“The citizens across the country are requested to inform the headquarters if they are treated improperly or if police officers are not fulfilling their responsibility,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Kuber Kadayat, central spokesperson for Nepal Police.
The notice states that public can complain if they don’t receive service, if denied to register complaint, if detained against the law, if abused by the officers or if officers misused the position alongside any other behaviour against the law.
As per the headquarters, they will act over the complaint at the earliest.
“Headquarters would send a separate team of senior officers to look into the matter as per its seriousness from the nearest higher authority. The respective state police department would be asked to investigate into the matter and if necessary headquarters would probe and take necessary action itself,” said Kadayat.
The notice states that public can inform about their complaints either by calling anytime at its toll-free number 1113 or by contacting on 01-4410079 (within office hours) and 9851293000.
Public can also mail their concerns at ecomplain@nepalpolice.gov.np or ujurichhanbin@nepalpolice.gov.np.
