By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov. 1: Chief Minister of Province 1 Bhim Prasad Acharya has resigned from his post. In the Provincial Assembly meeting, Chief Minister Acharya resigned after informing about the work done by the government.
Acharya was appointed as the Chief Minister on September 25. In the provincial assembly meeting today, there was a schedule to vote on the vote of confidence. However, he resigned after failing to secure a majority.
There are 92 members of the Provincial Assembly in Province 1. There are 41 UML MPs in the Provincial assembly, 21 from the Nepali Congress, 15 from the CPN-Maoist Center, 10 from the Unified Socialists, three from the Janata Samajwadi Party, one from the Federal Democratic National Forum and one from the RPP. To get a vote of confidence support of 47 people is needed.
