Kathmandu, Aug. 27: Three District Administration Offices (DAOs) of the Kathmandu Valley Wednesday decided to extend the ongoing prohibitory order for a week, until September 2 midnight.
Taking final consent from Ministry of Home Affairs today, a meeting held this morning at Babarmahal of Kathmandu District Administration Office of three CDOs of the Valley took the decision to this effect. The meeting has issued 20-point restriction rules to be followed by citizens, and all types of businesses which are in operation in the Valley.
The ongoing prohibitory order enforced in the Valley from August 19 to minimize increasing cases of COVID-19 virus is expiring at Wednesday midnight.
Cases of the coronavirus have been increasing in three digits taking toll of some people in the Valley for the past few weeks.
On Wednesday, Kathmandu Valley recorded 301 new cases of COVID-19, the highest single-day spike with 230 cases in Kathmandu district.

Earlier on Tuesday evening, the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Centers (DCCMC) of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur held a joint meeting and recommended the DAOs to further extend the ongoing prohibitory order.
All the services except for essentials and emergencies have been restricted to operate throughout the period, according to Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Janak Raj Dahal.
As per the new order of the DAOs, markets have been allowed to open till 9:15 am and these markets include diary and milk shops, food stores (Khadya store), fruit and vegetable shops, and meat shops. Shops that sell only drinking water are, however, allowed to open shops throughout the day.
In No 15 out of a 20-point order of the government, banks and financial institutions are instructed to run the service only through virtual and digital medium and in case that is not possible, such institutions are allowed the presence of their employees as prescribed by the guidance of Nepal Rastra Bank ensuring health protocols issued by Ministry of Health and Population.
Also, in point No. 17, vehicles and persons who are bound to go abroad from TIA are allowed mobility by any type of vehicle showing their visa, passport and confirmed air ticket of the particular day.
According to CDO Dahal, retailers and shops involved in creating artificial shortage of essential goods and charging higher price on pretext of restriction order of the government would face legal action. The provision has been mentioned in the point No. 18 of the prohibitory order.
