Kathmandu, Mar. 3: President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba have extended their greetings on the occasion of Gyalpo Lhosar Thursday.
In her message, President Bhandari wished for happiness, peace and prosperity of all Nepalis living in home and abroad.
“I am confident that through such festivals, the spirit of mutual unity, harmony and brotherhood among all Nepalis will be enhanced and will strengthen our broader national unity,” the message reads.
She also hoped that the festival will inspire all Nepalis to take the lead in building a just, civilised, cultured and progressive society.
Likewise, Prime Minister Deuba has expressed his hope that the Gyalpo Lhosar of the Sherpa community will further help strengthen national unity.
“Nepal is a country rich in ethnic, linguistic, religious and cultural diversity and it is the fundamental and unique identity of Nepali people of all castes and religions to respect this diversity, regardless of their particular customs, festivals and culture,” the Prime Minister said.
The government has also given a public holiday on Thursday on the occasion of the festival.
