Kathmandu, Dec. 26: President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba have extended best wishes on the occasion of Christmas Day to all Christians and Nepalis.
Issuing a press statement on Friday, President Bhandari said, "I extend my best wishes for happiness, peace, good health, and long life of all Nepali brothers and sisters."
"I believe that festivals like Christmas serve as a medium to increase the goodwill, forbearance, and unity between various religious and cultural societies within the nation and further strengthen national unity," said the President.
Likewise, Prime Minister Deuba said that Nepal's linguistic, cultural, and religious diversity was an important capital not only for Nepal but for the entire world.
Extending best wishes on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ, he said, the multi-caste, multi-cultural, multi-religious, and multi-lingual feature of Nepal was also the formula of national unity.
"Festivals and cultural traditions play an important role in creating a national culture via national unity and solidarity," said the PM in his message.
He added, "I hope Christmas will inspire Nepalis to maintain the feeling of brotherhood among each other."
