Gandaki, March 28 : President Bidya Devi Bhandari arrived here in connection with inaugurating the first national conference of judicial committee. The Head-of-State landed here by a Nepal Army (NA) helicopter.
Upon her arrival at the touristic town, she was welcomed by Gandaki Province Chief Prithviman Gurung, Chief Minister Krishna Chandra Nepali, Gandaki province government ministers, former minister Padma Aryal, Province Assembly members and Pokhara metropolis deputy- mayor Manjudevi Gurung.
According to the deputy mayor who is also the chief of judicial committee here, judicial committee of all the 753 local governments across the country have been invited to the event.
The Article 217 of the Constitution has guaranteed the presence of a three-member judicial committee at every local-level under the convenorship of the vice chair of rural municipality and of the deputy mayor of municipality, sub metropolis and metropolis to exercise power to hear cases, as entrusted to the local government. The committee aims to ensure people’s easy access to justice.
