Kathmandu, Nov. 5: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Monday appointed chiefs of all seven States as per the Article 163 of the Constitution on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
According to a statement issued by the Office of the President the newly appointed State chiefs include Somnath Adhikari Pyasi of Kaski for State-1, Tilak Pariyar of Banke for State-2, Bishnu Prasad Prasain of Jhapa for State-3, Amik Sherchan of Chitwan for Gandaki State, Dharmanath Yadav of Siraha for State-5, Govinda Prasad Kalauni of Baitadi for Karnali State and Sharmila Kumari Panta of Chitwan for Sudur Paschim State.
Earlier, in the evening the government recommended the names of the chiefs of all the seven States.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the official residence of Prime Minister K.P Sharma Oli in Baluwatar had recommended the names of the chiefs, according to Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Padma Kumari Aryal.
The list of the names of State chiefs was forwarded to the Office of President Bidya Devi Bhandari for certification following the Cabinet meeting.
On Sunday, President Bhandari had relieved the chiefs of all seven States upon the recommendation of a Cabinet meeting held on Sunday.
The government had recommended the names for the post of the State chiefs as per the recommendation made by the secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
According to the Office of the President, the State chiefs will be administered oath of office and secrecy at Shital Niwash at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, a secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) held at Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official residence in Baluwatar had finalised the names of all the seven State Chiefs.
After the secretariat meeting, NCP general secretary Bishnu Paudel said that the meeting had decided on the appointments.
