Kathmandu, Mar. 4: The Prachanda-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist party has taken action against seven leaders, including Subas Nembang and Bishal Bhattarai.
A central committee meeting of the faction held at its Paris Danda-based party office on Wednesday decided to suspend central members Subash Nembang, Shanta Chaudhary, Bishal Bhattarai, Mahesh Basnet, Surya Thapa, Prabhu Sah and Karna Bahadur Thapa for six months.
The meeting decided to suspend Bhattarai, who was given the responsibility of chief whip by KP Sharma Oli-led faction of the NCP.
Bhim Rawal, Standing Committee member of NCP of the Prachanda-Nepal faction, said the meeting decided to take disciplinary action against them for violating the party discipline. The disciplinary action was taken according to the party statute, he added.
The meeting also decided to remove party chairman KP Sharma Oli from the post of parliamentary party leader, Nembang from the post of deputy leader and Shanta Chaudhary from the post of whip, said Rawal.
“The meeting has also directed Nembang to immediately resign from the post of deputy leader of the parliamentary party,” said Rawal.
Earlier, the faction had decided to remove KP Sharma Oli from the post of the parliamentary party leader.
Similarly, the meeting has also condemned the delay in granting official status to the Prachanda-Nepal faction despite their repeated requests, said Rawal.
The faction has urged the Election Commission to pay attention to the issue, saying that the Election Commission has not been able to give a decision even after the party repeatedly filed a petition showing the majority in the central committee.
Stating that justice delayed is justice denied, Rawal said, “We have repeatedly appealed to the Election Commission to take an immediate decision regarding the party’s legitimacy based on an overwhelming majority of the NCP central committee.”
“The meeting has condemned that no clear decision has been taken by the Election Commission so far despite having a majority of central committee members in our favour,” he added.
According to Rawal, the meeting again demanded a fair and just decision as per the state law and the party statute.
The meeting further decided to appeal to all the parties, which have called Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s move unconstitutional and undemocratic, for the cooperation, said Rawal.
Likewise, the central committee meeting has also given the entire responsibility of forming the government to the party’s standing committee meeting and the central secretariat meeting.
The meeting also decided to condemn the suppression that took place across the country during the agitation, especially in Janakpur.
Similarly, the central committee meeting of the faction urged all the leaders to return to the faction and decided to give them responsibility without prejudice.
Rawal further said that during the meeting party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ refuted the reports that a few days ago he made a statement that India would also be happy if the NCP formed a government with Nepali Congress (NC) and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP).
“Stating that his statement was distorted, chairman Prachanda clarified that he had said that both India and China will be happy for the stability of Nepal, if the NCP forms a government in collaboration with NC and JSP,” said Rawal.
