Kathmandu, Jan. 10: The Election Commission (EC) has implemented Code of Conduct, 2016 to all the concerned authorities and officials for the National Assembly (NA) election effective from Monday.
Elections to 19 NA seats are being held on January 26.
Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the EC informed that the Code of Conduct was enforced to maintain impartiality, transparent and a threat-free environment during the election.
Saligram Sharma Poudel, spokesperson at the Commission, said that the Code of Conduct, which is accessible at the official website of EC, was implemented to the government, ministers, provincial government, local level government, officials of provincial and local level government, public corporation offices and its officials, government and quasi-government offices and officials, Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, National Investigation Department, provincial police offices and security officials, election officials, political parties and their sister organisations, candidates, people holding public position, government and private communication media, private and non-governmental institutions, universities, teachers and officials of community schools.
"Violating the legal and moral responsibilities mentioned in the Code of Conduct will amount to a stern action. Thus, all stakeholders are directed to fully implement and follow the conduct," said spokesperson Poudel.
