Nepalgunj, Sept. 2: Banke police have arrested 331 persons in the last two months as part of a campaign against crime and various illegal activities begun by the District Police Office, Banke.
According to the District Police Office, Banke, these persons were arrested for alleged involvement in various crimes and some of them have been initiated for further proceedings for imprisonment.
Spokesperson for the Banke Police and DSP Madhusudan Neupane said that 51 accused involved in various crimes were arrested during the period from June 26 to August 28. Police have recovered Rs. 4.6 million as fine and imprisonment years slapped for total 22 years and nine months.
During the same period, 28 persons were arrested with 80 grams 260 milligrams of brown sugar, 2,032 tablets of Nitrazepam, 2,600 millilitres of Corex and 70 tablets of Tramadol and Rs. 511,000 in cash was recovered from them, SP Neupane said.
Similarly, DSP Neupane said that 16 smugglers were arrested and handed over to the customs office in the same period.
Similarly, seven persons including unquarantined animals, birds and fish were held and 194 broiler chickens worth Rs. 297,500, and 7,900 chicks, one quintal of meat and 35 kg of fish were seized and handed over to the quarantine office, according to the District Police Office.
Police arrested three persons along with 11 illegal wooden bullets and handed them over to the Division Forest Office. Banke Police Chief SP Shyam Krishna Adhikari said that two persons were arrested with three weapons for carrying out various incidents.
He said that action has been taken against them as two sharp weapons, one home-made gun and three bullets of the weapons were recovered from them.
During the same period, two tippers and five tractors were taken under control and sent to the District Coordination Committee for necessary action and fined Rs. 256,000.
