Kathmandu, Oct 6: Police on Sunday arrested immediate past Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara over the allegations of sexual harassment.
Mahara is facing the sexual harassment allegations from an employee at the Secretariat of Federal Parliament.
A team of Police from the Metropolitan Police Kathmandu arrested Mahara from his official residence at Baluwatar.
Police took Mahara into custody after the Kathmandu District Court earlier on the day issued an arrest warrant against him.
Though the complaint was filed by victim Roshani Shahi at the Baneshwor Police Station on Friday evening, the police was unable to start the process to arrest Mahara because the court was closed on Saturday.
A single bench of district judge Brajesh Pyakurel today allowed the police to arrest Mahara and launch probe into the case.
