PM to inaugurate COVID vaccination drive on Wednesday

Kathmandu, Jan. 25: The government is all set to start vaccination drive against COVID-19 from Wednesday.
Addressing a regular press briefing virtually on Sunday, Minister for Health and Population (MoHP) Hridayesh Tripathi announced that the first phase vaccination drive would commence from 10am on Wednesday in all the seven provinces
The vaccination drive against COVID-19 will kick off Wednesday after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli formally inaugurates the event, Minister Tripathi said.
According to Minister Tripathi, the vaccination drive will start at the same time in all 62 hospitals of seven provinces and 120 vaccination centres from across the nation.
Minister Tripathi said that the vaccination campaign would commence at 300 vaccination centres in all 77 districts from February 1.
“The first phase of vaccination drive will complete in 10 days. Around 430,000 frontline workers will receive the jab in the first phase,” added Minister Tripathi.
In the first stage, frontline workers, including health and sanitation workers, ambulance drivers, hospital staff, and those managing dead bodies will get the shots of ‘Covishield’.
The government has acquired the vaccine with great effort and with the help of Indian government, its wise utilisation is a must, said Minister Tripathi.
Minister Tripathi informed that the concerned authorities would make the list of those who get the shots, as the government aims to provide vaccine to the target groups. The government is also preparing to procure additional COVID-19 vaccines. 
Minister Tripathi informed that before the completion of the first phase drive against COVID-19 vaccination, additional doses of vaccine would arrive.
