Kathmandu, July 17: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government would exploit its full capacity in resuming the transportation services in the nation.
Stating that the COVID-19 pandemic had heavily affected the economy, all service and employment sectors and the daily life as a whole, the PM said that the government would take the initiative for solving the problems faced by the transportation sector and resuming their operation.
Talking to the representatives of transportation entrepreneurs while receiving the memorandum relating to the problems facing the transportation 1services post COVID-19 pandemic, submitted by the latter, PM Oli said, “It is the responsibility of the government to look after all the sectors that have been affected by the pandemic. The government will step forward to resolve the challenges faced by the transportation industry.”
“It is the government’s duty to ease out the operation of all sectors that have been hit hard by the virus fallout. The government will put in effort for helping all sectors recover their losses,” said the PM.
The PM also highlighted that the pandemic had hugely affected the nation’s economic regime as well.
Yogendranath Karmacharya, Chairman of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs Association, Saroj Sitaula, General Secretary, Basanta Bhandari, Deputy General Secretary, Bhimjwala Rai, Chairman of Nepal Transport Labour Association, Ram Chandra Karki of All Nepal Transport Workers Association and Dharmaraj Bhandari of Nepal Transport Workers Association were present in the meeting.
Earlier on Wednesday, the transportation entrepreneurs had called on Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba and apprised him of their problem. Leader Deuba had telephoned PM Oli urging him to listen to the entrepreneurs’ woes.
